5 tips for choosing the right printer for your project | Quality Printing London
10 October 2017
We have discussed before on the blog the importance of choosing the right design and print processes in order to achieve you desired result for your printing project, however none of that matters if you do not also pick the right printer.
So how do you make that decision? There are a number of factors that you should consider before making your choice…
1. Pick a printer that specialises in printing projects like yours
Not all printers are the same and some will print different types of projects more often than others. If for example, you want to print 1000 letterheads, find a printer that specialises in corporate stationery and does the same type of work all of the time.

Solways are experts at printed stationery!
2.Do not always pick your printer based on price
This one might seem obvious but the saying “you get what you pay for” is mostly proven to be correct. A luxury product produced at a high quality may be more expensive but it will also be an indication of the high quality service you are offering to your clients.
3. Give your printer enough time to print your job
If you want your job printed the best it can possibly be then you need to ensure that you give your printer enough time to meet expectations. It is important to bear in mind that jobs with several craft processes usually take longer to produce as they require time for drying and setting between each process. Place your order with enough time to meet your deadline.

Projects with craft processes such as foiling take longer to produce… but the wait is worth it!
4. Do not make printers compete for your project
While it might seem like the most sensible idea to send your quotation to multiple printers and choose the one that offers you the most competitive price, this does not allow you to build up a long-lasting business relationship with a printer that you can trust. Having a regular printer you work with and can rely on will mean they are more likely to go out of their way to assist you with urgent orders and trickier jobs.
5. Meet the print team in person
Meeting the people who will be looking after your project can give you peace of mind. At Solways we love to talk about print with our clients… and we believe in a personal touch. That is why we offer you the opportunity to come in and meet with us to discuss your requirements face-to-face.

As mentioned before there are other influencing factors to creating an excellent piece of print but if you select your printer correctly you have already achieved half of the battle. If you have made design and processes choices that do not suit your project a good printer will advise you that these may not be the best choices and offer their advice for alternatives.
